On a dresser, old books stand in a neat row, flanked on the right by two column candles, on the left by two candelabra, all lit with warm flames. In front of that shelf lies an open book, as if the reader had put it down and left it there, forgotten. A mirror behind the dresser shows a window screened by gauzy curtains. Though the scene is brightly lit, the dresser is dark, the candles are warm, and all looks cozy and inviting.
